In the Netherlands, student housing will often be something along the lines of a well-established shared family-style house in town that has its endearing eccentricities. But we do actually do new-build housing as well. In some cases, we develop new housing in collaboration with Woonbedrijf, our parent housing association. This usually involves placing different types of housing alongside each other. We also have student-only developments. You can view our latest new builds here.
Location, location! In Eindhoven city centre we created 56 student units and 38 family homes in a joint effort with Woonbedrijf. Our student housing is located closest to town, on the Vestdijk. Stratumseind is only a few minutes' walk away, and the train station and universities are about five minutes away by bike.
A room here will typically cost around 200 euros per calendar month, excluding service charges. Each is about 15 m2 in size and is part of a group of five sharing the facilities, which are the living room with kitchen, shower room and toilet. There are three such groups, so 15 rooms in total.
The 41 independent studios measure about 23 to 26 m2 each, and feature their own living/sleeping area with kitchen, shower room and toilet. And of course you get your own front door. The studios will typically cost around 400 to 425 euros per month, excluding service charges.
Residents were given the opportunity to design this new neighbourhood and its 402 housing units themselves! The exciting result: we've now got a lovely new area with housing in all shapes and sizes and engaged residents to boot. On the fascinating Strijp-S terrain, Eindhoven's creative hub!
SPACE-S contains 86 student rooms in groups of four or six, as well as 57 independent studios. What's more, you'll have access to communal areas, outdoor spaces and roof gardens too.
The procedure here is slightly different. In the building process for SPACE-S, future residents were given the opportunity to earn points by contributing ideas. These points could be used to already set aside and subsequently rent the home of their preference. So a bit of a different system, which we'll be hanging on to. If you would like to be part of SPACE-S, there are sessions for visitors you can attend to apply for a spot.
In summer 2016, this student residence on the TU/e campus welcomed its first batch of students. The building features 303 housing units: student rooms, small and more spacious studios and a flat, with residents sharing a communal area. The housing units all come fully furnished and are geared towards international students who are only in Eindhoven for a shorter period of time (short stay). This means you can only apply for accommodation here through the TU/e.
A striking and colourful building adjacent to the Strijp-S terrain, the Cederlaan complex features rooms, studios and flats for students. Some of the accommodation is intended specifically for international students who are only in Eindhoven for a shorter period of time (short stay). The other housing units are available to all applicants. Which is great, as offers do pop up quite regularly! Keep checking for offers on our website.
