Subletting
You cannot sublet your room or leave your room empty. What you can do is opt for a house-sitter.
What is house-sitting?
While you are away, someone else will temporarily live in your room so that you can return to your room when you get back. The difference compared with subletting is that you have our permission, and we make good agreements.
• House-sitting lasts a maximum of one year.
• You remain responsible for your accommodation. You pay the rent to us, and you are responsible if the house-sitter causes problems. If they cause so much trouble that we think they should leave, you must cooperate.
Requesting rent for house-sitting
You can ask the house-sitter for rent, we think that is only logical! However, you are not allowed to make a profit. The rent you request may not exceed the rent you pay us, plus any water and electricity costs.
Applying for house-sitting
Sound good? Make your house-sitting arrangements in good time, as it takes a while for everything to be properly agreed. To apply for house-sitting:
1. Find a house-sitter. This must be a full-time student, but they do not necessarily have to study in Eindhoven. Alternatively, they could be a PhD student associated with the TU/e. We don't look for a house-sitter for you, and we won't accept an intermediary.
2. Apply for house-sitting online on the page amend tenancy agreement.
We will assess your application and let you know if we agree as soon as possible.
